A meeting of the Democratic Town Committee was held
on July 23, 2009 at Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill
Ave. for the purpose of nominating candidates for
all Municipal offices for the November 2009
elections. The meeting was called to order at 7:35
P. M.
Chairman Joseph DaSilva, Jr. welcomed everyone to
the meeting and asked Jim Maloney to lead those
attending in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Bernie Gallo made a motion to accept the call of the
meeting. Tony Tomaino seconded.
Present:
DaSilva L, Merante, Anders, Abrantes, Gallo,
Coladarci, Cooke, Kelly, Rapp, Earle, Saadi, Tomaino,
DaSilva J, Eriquez, Council, Schlemmer W, Lees,
Kushner, White.
Absent:
Morgan, McNamara, Galloway, Schlemmer R, Conciatore,
Lewis, Armstrong,
Alice Earle nominated three candidates for
Constable, Francis Kieras, Bruce Lees and Jean Leitz.
Tony Tomaino seconded. The nomination passed
unanimously.
Eileen Coladarci nominated one candidate for Zoning
Commission Alternate, Patrick Venuti. Linda DaSilva
seconded. The nomination passed unanimously.
Bernie Gallo nominated six candidates for the Zoning
Commission, Anthony DiCaprio, Jack Gillotte,
Theodore Haddad, Jr., Richard Jowdy, Claire Mortilla,
and Al Pena. Helena Abrantes seconded. The
nomination passed unanimously.
Ellen Cooke nominated four candidates for the Board
of Education, Joan Hodge, Patrick McCleary, Kathleen
Molinaro and Robert Taborsak. Zach Rapp seconded.
The nomination passed unanimously.
Nominations of two candidates from each of the seven
Wards for the Common Council:
Tina Merante nominated First Ward candidates Frank
Anders and Barry Rickert. Linda DaSilva seconded.
The nominations passed unanimously.
Bernie Gallo nominated Second Ward candidates Paul
McAllister and Daniel Abrantes. Helena Abrantes
seconded. The nominations passed unanimously.
Jim Kelly nominated Third Ward candidates, Barbara
Carey and William Tanner. Zach Rapp seconded. The
nominations passed unanimously.
Tony Tomaino nominated Fourth Ward candidates, Peter
Nero and Thomas Saadi. Alice Earle seconded. The
nomination passed unanimously.
Gene Eriquez nominated Fifth Ward candidates Duane
Perkins and Fredrick Visconti, Jr. Joe DaSilva
seconded. The nomination passed unanimously.
Sonnie Council nominated Sixth Ward candidates
Benjamin Chianese and Paul Rotello. Wayne Schlemmer
seconded. The nominations passed unanimously.
Bruce Lees nominated Seventh Ward candidates Philip
Cervone and Joselyn Cotillo. Cortez White
seconded. The nomination passed unanimously.
Linda DaSilva nominated the seven candidates for
Common Council at Large, Jose Agosto, Jr., Barbara
Baker, Ernest Boynton, Thomas Dyer, Jr., Warren
Levy, Oseas Mello, William Totten, Jr. Tony Tomaino
seconded. The nomination passed unanimously.
Tom Saadi nominated Lori Kaback for the office of
Town Clerk of the City of Danbury. A motion was
made by Tom Saadi to close the nomination. Tony
Tomaino seconded. Zach Rapp seconded the nomination
of Lori Kaback. The nomination passed unanimously.
Ellen Cooke nominated Eileen Coladarci for the
office of City Clerk of the City of Danbury. A
motion was made by Bruce Lees to close the
nomination. Bernie Gallo seconded the nomination of
Eileen Coladarci. The nomination passed
unanimously.
Bruce Lees nominated Gary M. Goncalves for the
office of Mayor of the City of Danbury. Gene
Eriquez made a motion to close the nomination.
Eileen Coladarci and Tina Merante seconded the
nomination of Gary Goncalves. The motion passed
unanimously.
Joe DaSilva gave a special thanks to John Esposito
for his 28 years of service on the Common Council.
Tom Saadi made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Ellen Cooke seconded. The meeting was adjourned at
8: 15 P.M.
